Principal's Message

PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME

I am thrilled to welcome you back for another school year as we begin my second year as principal of Mountain City Elementary! As I reflect on the unprecedented challenges we faced together last year, including the devastation of Hurricane Helene, I am filled with immense pride in the incredible resilience, strength, and unity our school community demonstrated.

The way our staff, students, families, and community members came together during those difficult times exemplified the very best of what Mountain City Elementary represents. We didn't just weather the storm – we emerged stronger, more connected, and more committed to each other than ever before. This resilience is now woven into the fabric of who we are as a school community.

Mountain City Elementary continues to be a great place to be, and I'm more excited than ever to build on our proud heritage and tradition. Our commitment to the total development of every student, from Pre-K/Head Start through sixth grade, has only grown stronger through the trials we've overcome together. The challenges we faced last year have reinforced our dedication to
continuous improvement in student outcomes while integrating rigorous state standards into our curriculum.

At Mountain City Elementary, we work hard, we play hard, and we celebrate – and we've proven that we also stand strong together when times are tough. We are deeply appreciative that families continue to entrust us with the opportunity to educate their children, especially after experiencing firsthand the unwavering support of our school community. Our partnership with parents and the community has never been more valuable, and we continue to encourage families to be active participants in their children's education.

Together, we have created and will continue to nurture an environment that ensures our school remains a safe and inspiring place to learn. We are committed to excellence in education and are focused on building upon the foundation of resilience and determination we established last year.

I'm particularly looking forward to celebrating how far we've come while continuing our tradition of academic excellence and strengthening the community partnerships that proved so vital during our time of need. We will celebrate our students' achievements and the remarkable spirit they showed during challenging times, ensuring our learning environment remains both safe
and inspiring for all.

The strength we discovered in ourselves and each other last year gives me tremendous confidence in what we can accomplish together this year. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or just want to say hello. My door is always open.
Here's to another fantastic year ahead at Mountain City Elementary – built on the unshakeable foundation of our community's resilience!
Warmly, Christi Gentry
